You can apply to stop paying child support in certain circumstances, like being in prison or hospital long-term.

About exemptions If you have an exemption, you do not need to pay child support for as long as the exemption lasts.
Apply for a hospital exemption If you're in hospital or have to stay in a treatment centre for substance addiction, you can fill out a form to stop paying child support.
Apply for a long-term illness exemption If you have a long-term illness or injury that means you cannot work, you can fill out this form to stop paying child support.
Apply for a prison exemption If you're in prison for at least 13 weeks, you can fill out a form to stop paying child support or reduce your payment amount.
Apply for a sex offence victim exemption You can apply to permanently stop paying child support if the child was conceived because you were sexually assaulted.
Apply for an exemption review Receiving carers can fill out a form to have the paying parent's exemption reviewed. You'll need to show us why they should still be paying you child support.
