Non-parent carers who have chosen not to receive child support payments from 1 parent can follow these steps to restart the payments.

This is also called ‘cancelling a payment waiver’.

Stop receiving payments from 1 parent

Before you start

You'll need:

  • the name of the parent you want to restart payments from 
  • to check your contact details are up to date in myIR.

In myIR, go to your Child support - receiving carer account panel

Then select 'More...'

Select 'Cancel a payment waiver'

Fill in your details and submit

Log in to myIR

You can tell us in writing that you want to cancel a payment waiver (restart payments).

Check you've included your contact information and the paying (liable) parent’s name. Sign the letter and send it to us at:

What happens next

We'll restart the payments from the paying parent named in the form. They'll start from the date you've put on your request or the date we receive it, whichever is later.
