Voice ID is a secure voiceprint that uses your unique voice to identify you when you call Inland Revenue.

When you enrol in voice ID, you're adding security to your account by using voice recognition software.

How voice ID works:

  • When you enrol, we record a sample of your voice.
  • The next time you call, your voice is compared to that recording.
  • If it matches, you're verified automatically - no need to answer security questions.

You do not have to use voice ID, but it’s available if you choose. Your voiceprint is stored securely and only used to verify your identity. You can ask us to delete your voiceprint at any time.

Voice ID provides enhanced security and fraud prevention and gives you access to more self-service options, even outside Contact Centre hours.
