The Inland Revenue name and logo cannot be used in a way that suggests we approve, endorse, or partner with your product or service. This includes any wording that could reasonably be interpreted this way.
Using the Inland Revenue logo
You must not use the Inland Revenue logo as this may suggest our endorsement or approval.
This includes on websites, advertising, social media and product collateral.
There are some exceptions.
- We may allow other government agencies to use the logo for co-branding on a joint initiative.
- We may give a limited licence for Inland Revenue branded documents with the Inland Revenue logo, such as product rulings. These must not be altered or presented in any way that suggests our endorsement or approval.
Using the name Inland Revenue or an abbreviation
You may use our full name, IR or IRD only when it is necessary to describe something that is a fact.
Your use must be:
- accurate
- factual
- neutral in tone.
It must not:
- be promotional
- suggest our endorsement, approval or partnership.
What is allowed
You can use Inland Revenue, IR or IRD to explain factual statements that do not suggest our endorsement.
The following statements would be allowed.
- Integrates with Inland Revenue through Gateway Services.
- Connects to Inland Revenue systems using approved APIs.
- Inland Revenue has issued product rulings on some of the tax consequences of the scheme.
- Registered with Inland Revenue as an intermediary.
- Recognised by Inland Revenue as an intermediary authorised to act for clients.
What is not allowed
You cannot use Inland Revenue as part of the name of a product, service or other offering.
You must not use Inland Revenue, IR or IRD in a way that could mislead people.
For example:
- IRD compliant
- Approved by Inland Revenue
- Endorsed by Inland Revenue
- Partnered with Inland Revenue
- Official Inland Revenue partner
- Recommended by Inland Revenue
- Inland Revenue verified security
- IRD approved
These suggest our endorsement or partnership and are not allowed.
