MSD requests for information to update customer contact information

A limited share between Ministry of Social Development (MSD) and Inland Revenue (IR) for updating customer contact information.

Purpose of agreement

To enable MSD to make corrections to customer information in their client database based on information from Inland Revenue (IR).

Data exchanged

IR shares the following information with MSD:

• full name including first name, surname and any aliases
• date of birth as recorded by MSD
• incorrectly held IRD number recorded by MSD
• MSD client number
• MSD benefit class
• correct IRD number (where known)
• IR status of customer (active/deceased)

MSD provides IR with:

• more customer details to help find a match where a match does not exist
• more customer details where a customer’s status is different between agencies
• a summary of actions taken once this exchange is completed.

Approved Information Sharing Agreement under Part 9A of the Privacy Act 2020 and section 18E(2) of the Tax Administration Act 1994.
