You can search for unclaimed money for yourself or for someone else, using the name of a person or organisation. You can search on our website or in myIR.
Before you start
When you submit a claim, you need to provide information that helps prove you - or the person you're submitting on behalf of - own the money. You can attach evidence to your claim, for example:
- past contact information such as addresses you lived at when you had your account relating to the money
- a copy of an old statement or correspondence showing your connection with the organisation or person who passed the money to us
- for an estate, providing a copy of the will, death certificate, Letter of Administration or other evidence that you have authority to act for the estate.
Submit a claim in myIR
In myIR, you can search for unclaimed money and apply for any that matches your details.
Select the relevant search results in myIR. Then give us more information about yourself and the connection you have with the money.
- After you log in to myIR, go to ‘I want to...'
- Go to 'Registration, application and enrolment'.
- Select 'Apply for unclaimed money'.
If you’re acting on behalf of someone else, you need to prove that you have the authority to act for them.

To search, select the person or organisation you want to search for, then choose an item from the list provided.
If you want to submit a claim, you’ll be prompted to log in to myIR.
If you’re not registered for myIR, you will have the option to create a new logon.
You can search here to see unclaimed money that may be in your name. To claim, you will need to log in to myIR.

We take at least 12 weeks to process claims but may take longer, depending on demand. We appreciate your patience.
To avoid delays, please give as much evidence as you can with your claim. After we receive your claim, you do not need to contact us.
When we receive your claim, we'll check the information you sent against the records we hold. We'll get in touch if we need more information.
If your claim is successful, we'll pay the money into the bank account you provided. If you prefer us to transfer the money to a tax debt, send us a web message after submitting your claim.
