IR delivers 3 long-term outcomes for New Zealand
We deliver 3 long-term outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand - revenue, social policy payments and collaboration.
To achieve our outcomes, we work with many others
As the principal steward of the tax system, we play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing its integrity by striving for clarity, consistency and simplicity.
Our customers want us to keep making tax and social policy payments simpler and more certain
We focus on making tax and student loan obligations simple to pay, supporting individuals and families through making social policy payments and helping New Zealanders save for their first home or retirement.
Tax revenue reached $115.4 billion this year
New Zealand’s tax revenue grew to its highest level ever this year.
Key results
The key results we achieved for revenue, social policy, making it easier for customers and being effective and efficient.
Our compliance approach
We strive to make it as easy as possible to pay tax and receive payments and hard to get it wrong. We work with those who have unintentionally found themselves in debt to repay it and become compliant taxpayers again. We take a range of actions to tackle the few people who try to cheat the tax system.
