Save time by using our self-service number. There are many things you can do over the phone without waiting to talk to an Inland Revenue staff member.

Self-service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week when you call this number. You can also call the number from overseas, but it won’t be toll-free.
When you use this number, you will type responses to our menu options with your phone keypad. Make sure you have your IRD number handy when you call.
Self-service options are also available if you call any of our other 0800 numbers outside New Zealand business hours.
For some self-service options you will need to set up voice ID, so we can verify your identity when you call us.
What you can do with self-service
You can do the following when you use self-service.
Common tasks:
- Add or change an address
- Request an Individual income tax return - IR3
- Order a paper form or return
- Find out your IRD number
Make a payment:
- Make a credit or debit card payment - including for multiple account types and instalment arrangements (Visa and Mastercard only – fees apply)
Manage your myIR account:
- Activate your myIR accounts
- Reset your myIR passwords
Get a balance, statement or summary:
- Get an account balance – including student loans
- Find out your tax refund for the current and last tax year
- Find out the total of upcoming provisional tax payments
- Request a summary of your income
- Find out about gross wage PAYE totals if you're an employer
- Find out your prescribed investor rate (PIR)
Manage KiwiSaver:
- Find out who your KiwiSaver provider is
- Request a KiwiSaver suspension, if you’ve been enrolled 12 months or more
Self-service for child support
You can use self-service for many child support actions, both in New Zealand and if you call from overseas. You will need to be voice ID verified.
Self-service for tax agents
If you are a tax agent you can use the self-service and StationeryXpress number, including to order forms, guides and other stationery.
