This section contains information about outcomes of adjudication cases decided by the Disputes Review Unit. All cases are split into five categories depending on the degree to which the position of the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (CIR) was upheld.

*No conclusion reached - The figures pertaining to the 2014 and 2015 years were replaced in 2016 as they were incorrect.

The table shows the number of decisions issued by Disputes Review Unit between 2008 and 2017. In 2008, 66 decisions were issued compared to only 52 in 2017 - representing a decrease of 21% over the decade. From 2008 to 2017, the number of decisions where:

  • the CIR's position was upheld, decreased from 53 to 49 (drop of 8%)
  • the taxpayer’s position was upheld, decreased from 8 to 2 (a drop of 75%)
  • no conclusion was reached decreased from 5 to 1 (a drop of 80%).
