For 2022 the average amount of donations tax credit (DTC) that was claimed per person was $871.

This graph has one line that shows the average donation tax credit claimed per person between the 2004 and 2022 tax years. This line increases from $261 in 2004 to $942 in 2022. There is one sharp increase of $200 in 2009

This graph shows the average DTC claimed per person between the 2004 and 2022 tax years. In 2009 the Government removed the upper limit for the total amount of tax credits a person can claim which explains the $200 increase in average DTC claimed per claimant in 2009.  This increase partly reflects that some DTC claims would previously have been capped, and partly reflects that some DTC claims were previously split between couples.

The average DTC claimed per person increased 261%, from $261 in 2004 to $871 in 2022.
