Average donation tax credit claimed per person

For 2025, the average amount of donations tax credit (DTC) per claimant was $1,019. This is an increase of 8.0% on the average DTC claimed per person in the 2024 tax year.

In 2009 the Government removed the upper limit for the total amount of tax credits a person can claim which resulted in a $200 increase in average donation tax credit claimed per claimant in 2009. 

This increase partly reflects that some claims would previously have been capped, and it also partly reflects that some claims were previously split between couples.
