For the 2022 tax year there was a total of $926 million in donations for which donation tax credits (DTC) were paid.  

We track donations given to:  

  • Schools and kindergartens 
  • Religious organisations  
  • Other donee organisations. 
This graph has three lines that show the total donations made in millions of dollars that have had donations tax credits claimed. The graph shows changes between 2012 and 2022. Donations to schools and kindergartens increased 6% from $69 million in 2021 to $73 million in 2022. Donations made to religious organisations have increased 59% from $355 million in 2012 to $565 million in 2022. Donations to other organisations have increased 17% from $243 million in 2012 to $285 million in 2022. 

This graph shows the change in donations paid to schools and kindergartens, religious organisations and to other organisations between 2012 and 2022. Over the last 10 years it shows that:

  • Donations to schools and kindergartens increased 6%, from $69 million in 2011 to $73 million in 2022. 
  • Donations to religious organisations increased 59%, from $355 million in 2012 to $567 million in 2022. 
  • Donations to other organisations increased 17%, from $243 million in 2012 to $285 million in 2022.
