Kaitaia man fined for failing to file tax returns

A Kaitaia mussel farmer has been fined $3,500 for failing to file GST and income tax returns over several years.

Daniel Lovell ran D Lovell Contracting Limited and was charged with aiding and abetting the company in failing to furnish returns from 2017 until 2020.

Lovell promised to file the returns and on the day of sentencing (2 November) the returns had been filed. He was fined $125 on each of the 28 charges, for a total fine of $3,500.
