An Auckland-based painter has been sentenced to home detention and community work after evading or attempting to evade more than $200,000 in tax.
Zequan Chen faced 14 charges and was sentenced to five and a half months home detention and 100 hours community work when he appeared in the Manukau District Court on January 27.
In 2017, he agreed to make monthly payments to repay the $212,853 evaded but no money was paid, and Chen was declared bankrupt in November 2018.
