You will not be able to link accounts if you are a restricted user.

Before you start

You will need:

  • your client’s name, IRD number and contact details
  • the tax types for linking and delinking.

Make sure you have authority to act before you link to your client.

In myIR go to the 'Intermediary centre'

Select 'Client maintenance'

From here you can choose to create new links or manage and remove current links.

After entering a new client's IRD number or customer identifier you will need to verify that you are linking to the correct person.

Log in to myIR

Tax agents, bookkeepers and PAYE intermediaries can link through Spk2IR. You will need to contact us to set up a PIN for this. Call us on:

0800 456 678

What happens next

Tax agents, bookkeepers and PAYE intermediaries will get automatic access to new linked clients.

Payroll bureaus and other representatives do not get automatic access. We will send the client an email or letter to approve the request before these intermediaries get access.

My responsibilities

You must have authority to link your clients. Authority needs to be signed and given in writing from your clients.
