We're aware many tax agents and intermediaries are having trouble registering their clients for Donation tax credits (DTC).
Registering your client for donation tax credits
You cannot register from your client's profile under the 'I want to...' section.
To register follow these steps:
From the Intermediary centre > Select 'Client registration' > 'Register client for donation tax credit' > Enter client's IRD number and continue...
Filing donation tax credit claims
When you file a donation tax credit claim for a client, do it through the 'Intermediary centre' in myIR under 'Donation tax credits claim'.
When you file through the 'Intermediary centre’ you do not have to add receipts. To make a claim for a client, you only need to have seen the receipts.
If you file directly through the clients REB account, you'll have to add receipts.
You can only file a DTC claim for the past 4 years.
