You can manage payments and returns for your subscribed clients and other subscribed accounts in the intermediary centre in myIR.

Go to ‘Intermediary centre’, then ‘My clients’, then ‘Manage payments and returns'.

There are filtering options to help manage client situations.

You can:

  • view the return status for any account type and periods
  • check a payment’s status
  • check a balance or balances.

All web logons can view this information, depending on client list security settings and subscriptions.

There are restrictions for access to accounts depending on account permissions. For example, if you have read only access, you cannot file returns from the Intermediary centre.

Pending payment

A pending payment means we have the client’s IRD and tax type, but either the period is wrong, or a return has not been filed yet.

If a payment is marked as Pending and you want to post the whole payment to the correct period:

Go to ‘Intermediary centre’ then ‘My clients’ then select ‘Financial transfers’.

Suspended payments

Suspended payments will not appear in the Manage payment and returns section.

Suspended payments mean we do not have enough information about your client to allocate the payment.

To clear a suspended payment, send us a web message with:

  • confirmation from the client’s bank the payment has been sent
  • the payment instructions used when sending.

Our guides show tax agents their level of access and functionality in myIR.
