If you need to have an overseas tax relief form certified, fill it in and send it to us.

Before you start

You'll need to fill in the form provided to you by the overseas tax authority.

In myIR, go to 'I want to...'

Select 'Send a message'

To help direct your request, select 'This message is not relevant to a specific account' and then 'Other'.

Write your message

In the subject line, include the name of the foreign form alongside the overseas tax authority which has requested the form certification.

Examples of foreign forms include:

  • DT-individual
  • 5000-EN
  • RST01 or RST02
  • Form IC2
  • Form DGT
  • Form 60
  • Non-EU/EEA Certificate

In the body of the message, mention that the form requires certification from a Competent Authority.

Attach the form

Attach the form using the 'Add' button, then send the message to us.

If you have recently arrived in New Zealand, you may wish to include a completed tax residency questionnaire to ensure we can establish you are a New Zealand tax resident.

You can also send your request to us by post. Sign and date the letter and send it to us at:

Note the different timeframe by post. Once we receive all the necessary information, we aim to process your request within 30 days. If your request is incomplete or incorrect, it may take longer.
