Two-step verification (2SV) for tax agents and intermediaries became compulsory from the 28 April. As of 20 May, 81% have now set up 2SV which is a great result.

Here are a couple of reminders.

Resetting two-step verification

Owners, administrators and restricted administrators can reset 2SV for people within their tax agency through the manage agency function in the Intermediary centre. Users will receive an email once this has been reset.

Trust this device

Choosing ‘Trust this device’ means you may not need to enter a security code for up to 90 days when you log in to myIR using the same browser on that device. If you clear your browser cookies then it will impact this.

Confirm your contact details

When confirming your contact details, you are not required to enter two phone numbers. However, you will be required to have a mobile number if you have selected to receive notifications by text message.

If a phone type is selected in the secondary phone number field, then a phone number will be required. You can make the phone type blank to save your details.
