If you are not receiving a Work and Income NZ benefit, you can decide whether or not you want to receive child support. If you do want it, complete a Child support formula assessment application (IR101) and send it to your nearest Inland Revenue Child Support office.
The paying parent can also apply to pay child support to you.
If you are receiving a Work and Income NZ benefit, you must apply for child support. If you do not, your benefit may be reduced by $22 per week for each child.
You will have to give us certain information, including birth certificates and your bank account information. If we need anything else, we will contact you.
