You can make payments up to and on the due date. You can find the payment due date on your return, statement or letter, and in myIR.
If you pay us after the due date, we'll charge interest and penalties on the overdue amounts.
Weekends and public holidays
For due dates that fall on a weekend or public holiday, we need to receive your payment on or before the next working day.
Provincial anniversary days
If you make payments electronically and the due date falls on an anniversary day, you’ll still need to pay on or before the actual due date, as the banking system will still be operating.
If you make a payment over the counter at Westpac, we need to receive your payment on or before the next working day. However, you must also:
- be in the province that’s celebrating its anniversary
- normally pay over-the-counter at Westpac.
For more information on when payments are received in time, including information on tax pooling, and overseas electronic payments, see our standard practice statement.
