If you have already had Fees Free (for 1st year or final-year) you cannot get it again. If you used Training incentive allowance (TIA) to pay your final-year study fees, in most cases you cannot get Fees Free.

Training incentive allowance

If you used Training incentive allowance (TIA) to pay your final-year study fees, in most cases you cannot get Fees Free.

You may be able to get Fees Free in your final year if you used TIA for:

  • help with study costs in your final year (such as buying equipment, childcare, or transport), but not for study fees
  • study fees before your final year.

If your final year was across more than 1 calendar year, you may be able to get Fees Free for any calendar years you did not use TIA for study fees.

You cannot get TIA for your study fees and Fees Free in the same calendar year.

Example: Luca is getting Training incentive allowance

Luca’s final year of study was done across 2025 and 2026.

Luca used Training incentive allowance (TIA) for study fees in 2025, so he cannot get Fees Free for his 2025 fees.

However, Luca did not get TIA in 2026. This means Luca can get some Fees Free for his 2026 fees.
