In the 2026 tax year there were 681,343 taxpayers registered for GST and filing returns. This number is a 0.8% increase from the 2025 tax year.

  • The number of taxpayers with turnover greater than $20 million grew by 4.5% in the year to March 2026, compared to a fall of 2.6% in the previous year.
  • The number of taxpayers with turnover between $2 million and $20 million increased by 4.3% in the year to March 2026, compared to growth of 2.0% in the previous year.
  • The number of taxpayers with turnover between $500,000 and $2 million grew by 2.0% in the 2026 tax year compared to a fall of 0.1% in the previous year.
  • The number of taxpayers with turnover between $60,000 and $500,000 fell by 0.1% in the 2026 tax year compared to a fall of 0.6% in the previous year.
  • The number of taxpayers reporting turnover between $0 and $60,000 increased by 0.5% in the year to March 2026 compared to a 1.8% increase in the previous year.
