Employers have a range of obligations.

Meeting these helps us get your employees’ deductions and entitlements right.

File an Employment Information (EI) form every time you pay your employees.

Tell us when you make deductions:

  • PAYE
  • student loan
  • child support
  • KiwiSaver

Even deductions from employee payments including the wage subsidy.

Let us know new employees’ details on or before their first pay day.

And let us know about departing employees on or before their last day.

Notify us if you’re not paying wages for one month or more.

Or if you’re employing irregularly or pausing employment for one month or more.

Search “payday filing” on ird.govt.nz for more information about obligations.

If you’re unable to pay your taxes, get in touch with us so we can assist.

This could include instalment arrangements and remitting penalties and interest.

The Inland Revenue | Te Tari Taake logo and the website address ird.govt.nz appears and fades out ending the video.
