Follow these steps to write off child support or domestic maintenance owed to you, without cancelling your ongoing payments.
If ongoing payments have already ended, you can also write off remaining amounts owed to you.
We will not collect any amounts you write off, but if you change your mind, you still have the right to collect the payments privately.
Before you start
You'll need:
- the paying (liable) parent's name
- to make sure your contact details are up to date in myIR.
In myIR, go to your Child support - Receiving carer account panel
Then select 'More...'
Select 'Tell us not to collect'
Enter your details and submit
Log in to myIR
You can also fill in the Authorisation not to collect child support or domestic maintenance - IR129 form.
Check you've included your correct information and any documents we need. Sign the form and send your documents to us at:

What happens next
We'll write off the payments you have asked us not to collect. Your receiving carer account will show they are no longer owed to you.
Your responsibilities
If you want to permanently stop your child support or domestic maintenance, you need to fill out a separate form.
Cancel your child support
Cancel your domestic maintenance
If you're getting the Unsupported Child's Benefit for a child, you cannot ask us to write off child support for that child. However, you can ask us to write off court-ordered lump sums of child support.
Once you have asked us to write off payments owed to you, you cannot later ask us to collect them. If you change your mind and would like the payments collected, you can collect them through the District Court.
