Guidance for filling in your application for general approval

Gather your information

You'll need the following information to apply for general approval:

  • project detail
  • contact details
  • core activities
  • supporting activities
  • joint ventures, partnerships or look-through companies, if applicable
  • associated person(s), if applicable.

Fill in your information in myIR

From the homepage in your myIR account, select 'Request general approval' from your R&D tax incentive account.

Attach supporting documents

Use the 'Attachments' screen to upload any documents you want to send us as part of your application. This section is useful for uploading evidence regarding your core and supporting R&D activities.

Review and submit your application

Review the information you have provided. Once correct, click 'Submit' to send us your application. You will be asked to confirm the accuracy of the information.

If you save a draft, remember it will only be saved for 20 days.

Log in to myIR

What happens next

If we need more details or clarification about your application, you'll be contacted by either us or Callaghan Innovation.

If we approve your application, the information in that application will self-populate into your end-of-year R&D supplementary return.
