In this video, you’ll learn how to give someone first party access to your My business account in myIR.

First party access means you set someone up to log into your myIR account with a new user ID and password. You can choose this option if you have someone who works for you or acts on your behalf to help with your tax affairs.

To give someone first party access to your My business accounts you need to log in to myIR. You will need to create a new logon before you can delegate a new person access to your My business account(s) in our updated system.


Visual:

Transition to ‘Manage account access’ page, pointer selects ‘create new user’ button. Form expands to reveal field for entering information on the user. Pop up circle highlights ‘personal details’, ‘Account Access’ and ‘Support person’ fields. Pointer then selects ‘continue’ button.

Audio:

Under ‘Tools’, select ‘Manage Account Access’. Choose the tab ‘Create new user’. Enter their contact details, a user name and choose a role. You can choose either user or administrator.


Visual:

Transition to ‘Services’ section, pop up circle highlights the different options for access. Pointer then selects ‘continue’. Transition to ‘check and save details’ section. Pointer clicks save after reviewing information.

Audio:

Here you can choose which other myIR services you want to give a person access to. If you only want to give access to your My business accounts, leave the fields set to ‘No access’ and select ‘Continue’ to review all the information provided. Remember to click ‘Save’ once you’re done.

Transition to ‘receive confirmation’ section. Transition to myIR home page, pointer selects ‘My Business’ tab. Transition to ‘My business’ home page. Pop-up circle highlights ‘Settings’ button, pointer clicks ‘settings button’. Transition to ‘profile’ section in ‘Settings’. Pop-up circle highlights ‘manage additional logons’. Pointer clicks ’Manage additional logons’. Transition to ‘manage additional logons’ page. Pointer moves to select the ‘user’ to grant access to. Transition to ‘logon’ tab for this user. Pop-up circle highlights ‘manage access’ button. Pointer clicks ‘Manage access’ button. Transition to ‘Managed access for small_admin’.

Audio:

Once the new person has accessed myIR and activated their logon, click on the ‘My business’ tab. Select ‘Settings’ then ‘Manage additional logons’ to grant them access to your account(s). Select the person that you would like to grant access to and then select ‘Manage Access’ under the ‘I want to…’ section. Here you can choose what access role they should have and which account(s) you’d like them to have access to.


Visual:

Pointer selects ‘Administrator’, transition to ‘Add or remove accounts’, pointer selects ‘change’ under ‘Settings’. Window expands to reveal ‘Accounts’. Pointer selects ‘Administrator’ from the ‘Access role’ field. Pop-up circle highlights the information for Administrator underneath field.

Audio:

If you would like to change the access role at any point, select the current role and then select ‘Change’. Select the access role you’d like to provide. You can choose administrator, user or restricted user. An explanation of what each of these roles can do is displayed when you select a role in the drop down box.


Visual:

Pointer moves across screen to select ‘Grant access’, a pop up window appears called ‘Add Account Access’. Pointer selects ‘File’ from the dropdown menu. Pointer then clicks ‘OK’ button. Pop up window disappears.

Audio:

If you would like to grant access for an existing account, click on the ’Grant access’ and change the access from the ‘Account Permission’ dropdown. You can select periods that the logon has access to if required. Then click ‘Ok’.


Visual:

Pointer selects ‘cancel access’, then selects ‘Save’ button.

Audio:

If you no longer want someone to have access to your account, simply click on ‘Cancel Access’. Once you’re finished changing permissions, remember to click ‘Save’.
