What's changing for businesses

In April we’re making changes to myIR that will make tax simpler for you.

Changes to myIR

Below are the changes we're making to services in myIR.

"My GST" will change to "My business"

The My GST section that was introduced in February 2017 will change to My business. This section will include:

  • A Payroll returns account which replaces the ir-File service. You'll need to file your Employer monthly schedule (IR348) and Employer deductions (IR345) form through this account. You'll also be able to amend your IR348 instead of sending us an Employer monthly schedule amendments (IR344) form.
  • Filing, paying and amending fringe benefit tax (FBT) and gaming machine duty (GMD) returns.
  • Including attachments when you send us a message.
  • Registering for and ceasing your account types.
  • Continuing to file, pay and amend your GST.

"Look at account information" will change to "Accounts"

You'll find your Look at account information for the accounts below in the My business section. For all other accounts, including payroll returns, nothing will change.

"eDocuments" will change to "Correspondence"

You'll find eDocuments relating to the accounts below in the My business section. For all other accounts, including payroll returns, nothing will change.

  • Fringe benefit ordinary employee annual tax return (IR422)
You'll be able to file your IR422 return online without a myIR login until 1 August 2018. From this date you must be registered for myIR.

The government has proposed changing when employers and payroll intermediaries file payroll returns. The proposal is to file your returns every payday rather than monthly.
